Dr. Ram Kishore Singh

Hailing from a small village in Begusarai, Dr. Ram Kishore Singh was one of the first few doctors to start practice in Begusarai. At the time, several facilities were non-existent in the area. His vision was clear right from the start. He wanted to provide essential life saving medical care facilities at affordable cost to the poor people of the region. One of the essential facilities he found lacking was a blood bank. Many patients could not be saved by doctors at the time due to lack of blood. This was the reason he let go of the opportunity of government job and due to his persistent efforts, the first Blood Bank was established in the region which was licensed for Blood and Components in 1981. This helped save thousands of lives. This was one of the few blood banks in the entire state of Bihar at the time. He is the pioneer of blood banking in the region. That was just a start. He has always been extremely active in social service as well helping thousands of people from all walks of life.

Dr. Mira Singh

Dr. Mira Singh, had decided right from childhood, what she had to do in life. Even while in school at a remote village, in Begusarai, she always wanted to become a doctor and a doctor she did become – not just any doctor but one of the most successful doctors the region has ever seen. After completing her specialization in Gynecology and Obstetrics, she started her medical career in 1978-79. An expert at her field, she quickly became the most popular Gynecologist in the region with patients flocking in to her from several states and even some neighboring countries in the coming years. She has given many firsts to the region including several procedures that were started for the first time in the region, first nursing home, first infertility clinic, so on and so forth. She also joined Government Job which she dedicatedly worked at till her retirement recently. Along with being an excellent doctor, she has also been extremely active in social service be it at personal level, with Lions Club International or other with organizations. She also held the post of Dist. Governor of Lions District 322E which consisted of entire current Bihar state. She was also the first woman to have held this prestigious post from India. Wherever she has ever worked, she has given results beyond expectations – with multiple 100% achievement awards and hundreds of other awards for her work. She found her inspiration in Swami Vivekananda’s words – “Arise, Awake and stop not until the goal is reached.” She has lived by these words her entire life and is still very much on the path.
